Incubator for creative projects
The 3rd Floor and Passa Ao Futuro are opening the third call for projects related to craftsmanship and sustainability, given the success with the previous 2 projects hosted.

These projects may be product or system based, focusing on local connections within the territory, sustainable solutions, social programs and material innovations. All projects should have a positive impact on people and the planet.

The 2 winner projects will receive a desk for 6 months in The 3rd Floor Lab, a presentation at the end of the term and critique sessions with Emmanuel Babled from Babled Edition and Fatima Durkee from Passa Ao Futuro. Project depending, there is the space for organization of workshops.

Babled Edition

Babled Edition is the Lisbon based studio of Emmanuel Babled and consists of a pan-European team and production, that collaborates with numerous European craft districts and leads to a worldwide visibility. Driven by anthropological interest and physical presence, it integrates observation of materials and techniques in their authentic surroundings committed to places and social conditions.
Babled Edition creates artworks with the highest quality and experience in craftsmanship ability, by mixing ancient knowledge with high performance technological tools to allow for sophisticated production processes to create iconic pieces and inspire design community. Explores technical heritage and knowhow in a methodology that is based on coordination, speed, intuition and knowledge, in order to revitalize the interest in craft production and career and promotes crafted production towards a top worldwide market of international connoisseur.

Passa Ao Futuro

Passa Ao Futuro is a research based initiative that designs programs to support the transfer of ancestral tacit knowledge into the future. Cultivating an interface for the development of ideas, techniques and skills between the historical past and the sustainable future. Facilitating collaboration and innovation between artisans and designers in the production of utilitarian designs on the global and local scales.
Passa Ao Futuro’s mission is to preserve, promote, innovate and activate the Portuguese artisan sector through a series of initiatives, utilizing design thinking. Allowing for and supporting a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable, responsible design process, business model and future.
